VBS PRE-REGISTRATION—SETTING SAIL FOR THE HIGH SEAS  There are registration sheets on the VBS table to pre-register your child/children.  You can also pre-register next Sunday evening in the Fellowship Hall from 6:30-8:30 pm. 

VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS NEEDED  Volunteers are needed to help with VBS.  We are still in need of donated items for the meals, etc.  See the sign up sheets in the narthex.  There is also a container if you would like to give a monetary donation to help defray the cost of supplies and the t-shirts.  Any questions?  Please contact Nicole B. 

LWML  The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League will meet this Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.  Gerry S. will have the topic and Diana E. will be the hostess.  All ladies of the congregation are welcome.

LCMS NATIONAL CONVENTION  Michael G. is the lay delegate from our circuit and will be attending the LCMS National Convention in Houston, TX, July 10-17.  The convention will be several days longer this year for time to debate the proposed changes to the structure of the Synod.  Regular business includes the election of all the Synodical officers.  There are a lot of important issues to be decided, so please keep Michael and the Convention in your prayers these next two weeks.

SPECIAL OFFERINGS  There is a special National Offering to help support the work of the church in the world.  If you want to help, you can use the special envelope provided this morning in the insert or we are having a door offering to be sent with Michael to be given at the Convention.   

THE OVER-50 GOOD SHEPHERDS will get together for fellowship and games Thursday evening at 6:00.  Bring your favorite snack and join the fun!

THE CHURCH COUNCIL will meet next Sunday evening at 7:00 pm.  All officers of the church are asked to attend this meeting to plan the agenda for the Voters’ meeting on July 25.

NURSERY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED  We are in need of volunteers to help in the nursery during the late service while Walli is in New Jersey taking care of her dad.  Please pick a Sunday and write your name on the sign up sheet in the narthex.  Thank you for your willingness to help.

EXPERIENCE NATIONAL GATHERING  The Youth Group leaves for the National Gathering on July 16.  Do you want to experience a part of their trip?  You can!  The Mass Events and worship services will be streamed live during the Gathering.  You will be able to find the live stream on www.lcms.org.  The Mass Events are on July 17-20 at 8:00 pm. nightly and on July 21 at 9:00 am.  

RECIPE FOR LIFE—WOMEN’S RETREAT, SEPT. 24-26  Plans are underway for the women’s retreat at Eureka Springs, AR.  We need an early count of attendees in order to reserve rooms.  This needs to be done as soon as possible.  (It’s a really busy time there that time of year.)  The cost will be under $100.00, which includes a two night stay, full breakfasts, trolley tickets, plus your ticket to the Passion Play.  We will need a $20.00 deposit from everyone wanting to attend to reserve the rooms.  The sign up sheet is in the narthex.  Any questions, please contact Lora S., Nicole B., Mary P. or Melody S.  More information on the full itinerary will be shared later.

PASTOR’S CLASS  Pastor is planning to have an information class for anyone who is interested in joining Good Shepherd, just wants to know more about the Lutheran church, or would like to refresh your own understanding of things Lutheran, on Sunday afternoon, July 18.  The class will start at 1:00 and go all afternoon.  If you are interested in attending, please let Pastor know.  

PERIODICALS  The Portals of Prayer and the Lutheran Women’s Quarterly are on the table in the narthex.  Please feel free to take a copy. 

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  Each bear is numbered on the back of the tag.  That is the number to record in the notebook in the narthex, along with your name, the name of the recipient, and reason.  The recipient may keep the bear as long as needed, or it may be returned to GSLC to be given to someone else needing extra love from God and extra prayers from us.

TAPES & CDS OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.

PICTORIAL DIRECTORY SIGN UP  Today from noon to 6:00 pm is the last day to have your picture taken for the church directory.  If you have not had your picture taken, please plan to do so and sign up.  We really would like to have everyone included in the directory and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.  The sign up sheet is in the narthex on the table next to the nurse’s office.

MONEY MATTERS  Parents and children ages 6 to 10 are invited to a free educational workshop called Parents, Kids and Money Matters today during the Sunday School hour.  The workshop is designed for parents and their children to help kids learn about money and values.  The Workshop is presented by Austin Rice, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans representative, and members of the congregation.  The workshop is free and no financial products will be sold.

Student Loan Reduction Grant Application

When funds are available, the SWMO Circuit Mission Council Endowment Fund will match what the Church Worker pays toward his/her student loan reduction up to $1,000 per year. The Church Worker must submit proof of debt reduction payment along with the application. Please read the form for eligibility and application details. Click here to download the application form.
