Announcement — January 23, 2011

REMEMBER IN PRAYER  Melba D., in rehab. at Spring River Christian Village, Joplin; Marilyn N., at home; Jeanie D., at Carthage Health and Rehab.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION  A short meeting is scheduled for after the late service today.  Everyone is invited (not just the teachers) to attend and share ideas or give some input concerning the Sunday School program here at Good Shepherd.  

CHURCH TRUSTEES’ MEETING  The church trustees will meet at 6:00 this evening before the Voters’ Meeting. 

VOTERS’ ASSEMBLY  The first voters’ meeting for 2011 will be held this evening at 7:00.  All members, 18 years of age and older are eligible to be a part of the voters’ assembly. 

PIE BAKING CONTEST  Do you have what it takes to make a prize winning pie?  Bring your entry to the voters’ meeting fifteen minutes early to be judged, and at the conclusion of the meeting we can all enjoy sampling all the pie entries. Yummy!  Babysitting will be provided for the meeting.

2010 OFFERING STATEMENTS Please pick up your 2010 statements.  They are on the table in the narthex.

SUBSCRIPTION RENEWAL  The Lutheran Witness; it’s about your faith, your church, your world.  The new subscription year begins in April.  If you would like to receive or renew a subscription for 2011, please use the sign up sheet in the narthex.  The annual cost is $15.00.  You may put the amount in the offering plate marked Lutheran Witness, or mail a check to the church office.

FLOWER CHART, 2011  If you would like to place flowers at the altar for a special occasion or in memory of someone, please sign the flower chart found in the narthex.  Simply write your name, phone number, and occasion with the pen provided.

ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE  Start going through closets, attics, garages, storage buildings, etc. and pull items to donate to the Youth Group’s Annual Rummage Sale to be held in February.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.

TAPES OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  Tapes of the previous Sunday are also available.       

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

REMEMBER IN PRAYER Walli H. & family, at the death of Walli’s father; Melba D., in rehab. at Spring River Christian Village, Joplin; Marilyn N., at home; Jeanie D., at Carthage Health and Rehab.

“BOB” FRANK W., husband of Maxine W., father of Bob & Corinne W., and grandfather of Hailey and Blaine, was laid to rest Tuesday, January 11, at Miller, MO.  Bob passed away and was received into the arms of his Savior on January 7, 2011.

THE ELDERS will meet this Monday evening at 7:00 pm.  Earl K. will hold the position of head elder for 2011.

CHURCH TRUSTEES’ MEETING The church trustees will meet at 6:00 pm next Sunday evening before the Voters’ Meeting.

VOTERS’ ASSEMBLY will meet Sunday evening, Jan. 23, at 7:00.

OFFERING ENVELOPES Your box of offering envelopes for 2011 are located on the table in the narthex.  If you do not find a box with your name on it, and would like to use offering envelopes, please let the office know.  If you prefer not to use them and see your name, simply write NO on the label.  Please do not use your 2010 envelopes in 2011.  This will help as the offerings are recorded.

WEDNESDAY EVENING CLASSES resume this week at the regular time of 6:30.
 
LWML  The Women’s Missionary League will meet this Wednesday evening at 6:30.  All ladies of the congregation are invited.
 
OFFERING ENVELOPES  The 2011 offering envelopes are ready to be picked up.  They are on a table in the narthex.  If you do not see your name and want envelopes, please contact the church office.  Likewise, if you prefer not to use them and see your name, simply write NO on the label.  Please remember to discard your 2010 envelopes and use only the 2011 envelopes beginning January 9.

KID KITS  In the narthex are a number of bags containing crayons, coloring books, picture books and other items of interest for young children.  You are welcome to use them for your little ones.  Please return the “kid kit” after the service.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.
