FALL SOFTBALL The church co-ed team will not play on Monday, Labor Day. The men’s team will play Tuesday evening at 8:30.

COUCH POTATO LUNCH AND SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER was a big success.  It was good food and good fellowship for a good cause.  Over $1,100.00 was raised to go toward the purchase of furniture for the narthex.  A big thank you to everyone from Brenda K., Lora W. and Corinne W., LWML Potato Lunch committee.

LWML WOMEN TO WOMEN NIGHT OUT is this Wednesday evening at 6:00, here in the Fellowship Hall.  All LWML members are encouraged to  enjoy this night of food, fellowship and fun.  Lora S. will have the topic.  This is also a work night to help get ready for the Zone Fall Rally which our society will be hosting in Nov.  Please RSVP to Mary, 358-1325, if you plan to attend and if you will be bringing a guest.

THE SHEPHERD’S OWN men’s choir will resume weekly rehearsals on Wed. evenings at 6:30, beginning Sept. 7.  If you enjoy praising the Lord in four-part harmony (and fellowshipping with a great group of guys), please come and join us.  For more information you may contact John N.

SPECIAL EVENTS NEXT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11 Be sure and note the special events scheduled for next Sunday.
+  ONE WORSHIP SERVICE We are planning just one fellowship worship service at 10:45 am next Sunday.  This will give everyone in the congregation a chance to meet each other.  Since the Sunday School Rally Day theme is “Roundup”, everyone is invited to wear casual clothes.  We will also be asking everyone to wear a name tag.  Bible Class and Sunday School will meet at their regular time, 9:30 am.
+  SUNDAY SCHOOL RALLY DAY The Sunday School will also have their Rally Day Round-up next Sunday.  It’s when everyone moves up a class and the fall program begins.  There will be a balloon launch before the children go to their new classes.  There will also be rides, games, and all kinds of activities for the children after the noon meal.
+  FRIED CHICKEN POT LUCK DINNER A congregational potluck din- ner (you bring the veggies, salads or desserts; fried chicken will be furnished), will be served after the worship service for all to enjoy, and you’ll want to stay and enjoy the many activities that are planned for the afternoon for all ages.

IRON ON T-SHIRT TRANSFERS for next Sunday’s special day are available in the narthex.

BAND PRACTICE will begin Wednesday, September 14, at 5:30 pm.  Play an instrument?  We’d love to have you join us.  Karen M. is the band leader.

JR CONFIRMATION AND WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY will resume Wednesday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m.

MID-WEEK SCHOOL Plans are being made to have a Wednesday Mid-Week School for all ages of children.  They will meet at the same time as the Confirmation class.  The lessons will coordinate with the Sunday School lessons and will include an activity.  There is a sign up sheet in the Narthex if you are interested in your child/children attending.

CROSSLINES CANNED GOODS Please remember to bring non-perishable items to donate to Crosslines.  You can place your donation in the round container in the narthex, or in the shopping basket in the entry way to the fellowship hall.  Any donation is greatly needed and very appreciated.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

COUCH POTATO LUNCH AND SILENT AUCTION FUNDRAISER Be sure to join us for lunch today.  On the menu are large baked potatoes with all the fixings, salad, drink, and dessert…all for a suggested donation of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children.  There are also some great silent auction items for you to check out.  All the proceeds from the lunch and the silent auction will go toward the purchase of furniture (couch, chairs, etc.) for the narthex.

YOU ARE INVITED to a baby shower for Amber H. this afternoon at 3:00.  Amber is expecting a baby girl.  The shower is hosted by her mother, Kathy M., and her grandmother, Ruby S..

CONSTITUTION CHANGES Because of a lack of a quorum at the Voters’ Meeting to change the constitution, a special voters’ meeting has been called for today after each service to vote on the proposed constitutional changes.  The changes are posted on the table as you enter the sanctuary.

THRIVENT JOPLIN TORNADO WORK DAY There will be a Thrivent work day in Joplin next Saturday, Aug. 27.  If you would like to volunteer, please be at Immanuel, 26th and Conn., at 9:00 am.

DON WHARTON CONCERT On Friday, Aug. 26, at 7:00 pm, you can enjoy a free family concert with Don Wharton, Christian singer/songwriter. He will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 26th and Connecticut, Joplin.
