Announcements — October 2, 2011

REMEMBER IN PRAYER Don H., at home undergoing treatment for cancer; Karen P., undergoing tests; Stella Q., recovering from pneumonia; Ronda S., at Carthage Rehab.; Kenna Marie F., at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

THE GIDEONS INTERNATIONAL will give a short report after each service this morning on their work of distributing Bibles throughout the world.  A door offering will be received to aid this work.

ALL GOD’S PEOPLE SING The hymn book All God’s People Sing has been returned to the pews.  They weren’t used after we purchased the new pews because the hymn racks were not large enough to hold both hymn books.  In order to utilize the additional hymns in AGPS, we have put them on the pew seats until larger hymn racks can be made.

SOFTBALL The church co-ed team will play Monday at 7:30 and 8:30 pm, and the men’s team will play Tuesday evening at 6:30.LWML  The monthly meeting of the Missionary League will be this Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.  All members are encouraged to attend this important meeting to finalize plans for the Zone Fall Rally, Saturday, Nov. 5, which will be hosted by the Good Shepherd society.

MEN’S CAMPING RETREAT If you are looking for a fun weekend of camping and fishing, then please join us for a men’s camping trip the weekend of Oct. 14-16.  We’ll be going to Dale & LeeAnn B.’ property located just south of Lockwood.  There is a large stocked pond for a day of fishing from the bank.  Campers are welcome, but there is no electric hookup.  Contact Dale, or Paul R. with any questions.  There is a sign up sheet in the narthex.  Hope to see you there.

CROSSLINES CANNED GOODS Please remember to bring non-perishable items to donate to Crosslines.  You can place your donation in the round container in the narthex, or in the shopping basket in the entry way to the fellowship hall.  Any and all donations are greatly needed and very appreciated.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  Tapes of the previous Sunday are also available.
