A BIG THANK YOU to all those who helped make last Sunday’s special day, special.  It was the fellowship committee, the Christian education committee, the eating committee, the play committee, the praise committee, the committee of children and of adults…you get idea, we just can’t thank everyone enough.  It was a wonderful time!

THE ELDERS’ will meet this Monday evening at 7:00.

YOU’RE INVITED The Joplin Immanuel LWML is having a day retreat next Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the home of Joan S. here in Carthage and have invited the ladies of our congregation to join them.  There will be a Bible study led by Pastor Mech, lunch, games, singing, and spiritual renewal.  Please RSVP to Emalie W. by Sept. 20 if you would like to attend.

CONGRATULATIONS to Jason & Karena A. who were blessed with the gift of a baby girl on Sept. 14.  Peyton Rose weighed 9 lbs., 5 oz. and was 21 inches long.  Proud members of her family are: grandparents Terry & Kathy P., uncles Charlie, Joey and Tim, and great-grandmother Katherine R.  We ask for God’s continued blessings on Peyton and her family.

ARE YOU WILLING? Are you willing to give fifteen minutes, how about an hour?  Our children are the future of Good Shepherd and they are eager to learn.  Sunday School and Midweek classes are growing and we need your help.  Fifteen minutes, or an hour, you can do it.  Please sign the sheet at the Education Station in the church narthex.

PASTOR’S CLASS Pastor is having an Information Class next Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 6:00 in the Conference Room.  The class is for everyone, but it is especially designed for those wanting to know more about the Lutheran Church or who are interested in joining the congregation.  Please let Pastor know if you are interested.  Refreshments will be served.

LWML BAKE SALE The LWML will hold a bake sale next Sunday, Sept. 25.  All proceeds will go toward the purchase of narthex furniture.

THIRTY-ONE PARTY You are invited to a Thirty-one party in the Fellowship Hall after church until 2:00.  Thirty-one is a company based on Psalm 31 (Celebrate, Encourage and Reward) and includes fun organizing bags, totes, purses and accessories that can be personalized.  The party is hosted by Gerry S. and presented by Bethany M.  Ten percent of the sales will be donated to the narthex furniture fund.  For a preview visit: www.mythirtyone.com/bethanymccarty.

CROSSLINES CANNED GOODS Please remember to bring non-perishable items to donate to Crosslines.  You can place your donation in the round container in the narthex, or in the shopping basket in the entry way to the fellowship hall.  Any donation is greatly needed and very appreciated.

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECKS are available in the narthex after each service.  You will be given a small form that can be carried in your wallet which will include medical information and a log of your blood pressure readings.

PRAYER BEARS are in the sanctuary pews and available to be signed out (notebook in narthex) and given to anyone that needs God’s love, comfort, and peace.  We have had reports and words of thanks from folks being blessed by this outreach ministry.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you can control the volume.

TAPES OF THE SERVICE Audio tapes of the service are available after the 8:15 am service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  Tapes of the previous Sunday are also available.
