Announcements — March 28, 2010

REMEMBER IN PRAYER:  Gloria E., Jeanann G., Ann L., Chuck P., Heather U., undergoing treatment; Marty J., with cancer; Bill S., serving in the military in Afghanistan.

BAPTISM  We rejoice with James and Bethany M. at the baptism of their son, Brock Alexander, this morning during the late service.  Brock was born February 25th.  His sponsors are Julie S. and Kristy M..  Brock is the grandson of Pastor and Gerry.  He is wearing the baptismal gown Pastor wore when he was baptized.

BAPTISM CANDLE  We will now be giving a baptism candle to everyone baptized at Good Shepherd.  A Baptismal Candle Holder has been given to our congregation in memory of Irene Schnackenberg, Pastor and Mary Parks’ mother.  The candle is given to remind the baptized that they have received Christ who is the Light of the World, and that they are to let their light shine before others that they may see their good works and glorify the Father in heaven.  The candle is to be lit each year on the anniversary of their baptism.

CONGRATULATIONS to Maggie E. and Michael C. who were united in marriage Saturday, the 13th, here at Good Shepherd.  The couple will make their home in Bentonville, AR.  May God bless this couple as they begin their life as husband and wife.  Maggie is the daughter of Fred and Diana E.

ANNUAL EASTER BREAKFAST, MORE HELP NEEDED  There is a sheet on the card table in the narthex for you to sign-up to bring your choice of food (more casseroles, sweet rolls, and fruit are needed) for the Easter breakfast next Sunday.  There is also a sign-up sheet to offer your help in the set-up, serving or clean-up.  Much more help is needed in that area as well.

FILL EASTER EGGS  It’s time to fill eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt.  Any donations, candy or money, will be appreciated.  The candy needs to be individually wrapped and can be left in the narthex.  Thank you.

HAPPY 100th  You’re invited to a birthday reception April 10th, from 3-5 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Monett, to honor Elna Z., who turns 100 years old on Sunday, April 4th.  Mrs. Z. is Karen P.’ grandmother.

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets are available in the narthex.  You are welcome to take one home with you.

BULLETIN COVER PICTURE  A bit of trivia.  Eight years ago, Kelly B. painted Bible scenes for the Sunday School which hung on the walls of the Fellowship Hall.  We have been using the picture of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on the bulletin cover every Palm Sunday since he painted it in 2002.  Thank you, Kelly.

BLOOD PRESSURE  The opportunity to have your blood pressure taken and recorded after each service is available in the nurse’s office located off the narthex.  You will be given a card to carry with you to record your readings.

TAPES & CDS OF THE SERVICE  Audio tapes and CDs of the service are available after the 8:15 a.m. service each Sunday.  They are located in the glassed-door cabinet in the narthex.  The previous Sunday’s are also available.

ASSISTIVE LISTENING  If you are having a hard time hearing the service, assistive listening devices are available from the ushers.  They work like a transistor radio and you control the volume.
